When a raid turns into a sequence of machine encounters, the weapon in your hands determines more than how quickly an ARC falls. It also decides how much ammunition you burn, how often you expose yourself while reloading, and whether your loadout remains useful when another Raider appears. That is why players planning their progression should treat ARC Raiders BluePrints as part of a wider resource decision rather than chasing the highest visible damage number. Aphelion and Bettina can both perform well, but they reward very different habits.

Choose Around Your Raid Objective

Aphelion makes the most sense when the raid is built around fighting ARC machines repeatedly. Its energy ammunition and very strong penetration give it a clear purpose against armored targets, especially when the player can reach exposed components. In those situations, penetration and accurate weak point hits may matter more than simply firing a large number of rounds.

This advantage is conditional, not automatic. Aphelion becomes less attractive when a player struggles to hit components, fights mainly at awkward distances, or expects frequent player encounters. Its value comes from controlled pressure against machinery, so carrying it without the accuracy or positioning to support that role can turn an apparent upgrade into wasted ammunition.

Why Bettina Is Easier to Justify

Bettina is the more practical all purpose choice for players whose raids do not follow a single script. As an assault rifle, it offers a familiar medium range shooting pattern and still provides useful ARC penetration. That combination allows one weapon to handle a machine encounter while remaining relevant if Raiders enter the fight.

Its strength is opportunity cost. A dedicated ARC weapon may perform better in its ideal matchup, but Bettina reduces the need to change plans when the raid becomes unpredictable. This is especially valuable for players still learning engagement distances, component locations, and when to disengage. Bettina does not remove the need for accurate shooting, yet it is generally easier to integrate into a daily loadout.

The following comparison shows the practical decision rather than suggesting that one rifle is universally stronger.

WeaponBest UseMain AdvantageMain Risk

That difference affects both combat consistency and resource preservation. Aphelion can save time and ammunition when its penetration is used correctly, while Bettina can save opportunities by remaining useful across more situations.

Spend Ammunition With a Test Plan

Tier lists cannot account for accuracy, preferred range, or the targets a player actually meets. A controlled test gives better information before committing valuable resources to upgrades or repeated farming. Use similar equipment and comparable raid conditions, then track the results rather than relying on a single impressive encounter.

Record ammunition spent on comparable ARC targets.

Count shots needed to break important components.

Note reloads during each machine engagement.

Test Raiders at your normal fighting distance.

Compare extraction value against ammunition consumed.

This process also reveals a common mistake: judging both rifles against unarmored targets alone. That test hides the reason Aphelion exists and may exaggerate the importance of raw bullet volume. Conversely, testing only armored machines can make Bettina's flexibility look irrelevant. The useful result is the weapon's performance across the encounters your raid is designed to create.

Match Investment to Progression

Players focused on ARC farming should prioritize the weapon that turns accurate component hits into reliable progress. Aphelion offers stronger value when machine fights are the main source of danger and the player can control positioning. The July update's improvement to ARC Turbine loot makes dedicated PvE runs more appealing, which gives Aphelion a clearer place in a focused farming plan.

Players with limited ammunition or uncertain raid objectives should be more conservative. Bettina is usually the safer daily driver because its PvE usefulness does not prevent it from handling an unexpected Raider fight. That flexibility can protect a run's extraction value when the original plan changes, even if it is not the specialist option for armored ARC targets.

Do not upgrade or stockpile around a weapon merely because community data favors it. A rifle that demands weak point accuracy can have limited value if most of your shots miss exposed components. Likewise, a flexible rifle loses some of its advantage when every raid is deliberately organized around machine hunting. Using cheap ARC Raiders Items may help manage preparation costs, but the better long term decision still comes from matching ammunition use, encounter risk, and extraction goals to the weapon's real role.
